Dell’s new subnotebook product, the Inspiron 910, coming very soon

August 19th, 2008. Published under Hardware. No Comments.

Sounds like the Inspiron 910 is just around the corner, and it is coming loaded with a special mobile-optimized version of Ubuntu 8.04.  That should be expected for a $300 computer, as its competitors, like the Asus EEE PC, run a flavor of Linux.  This thing looks pretty nice.  Check out the article at ars technica.  Recently Gizmodo posted this article on the Inspiron 910, though at the time this was the very first reveal from Michael Dell and the name and OS was not yet released by Dell.

Behold! USB 3.0 is coming, and it is fast

The good folk over at MaximumPC Magazine online (I subscribe to the good ol’ paper edition) have an informative article about USB 3.0 with pictures.  They even hack a cable to show a cross-section shot.  The new version is backward-compatible with 2.0 and 1.1, and 3.0 is spec’ed to be TEN TIMES faster than 2.0 at 480 Gbps.  That is sweeeeeet.
